EU "final" vote on Internet Termination By Accusation..
BoingBoing.net reports that after 5 votes in the European Parliament
"A formidable campaign from the citizens put the issues of freedoms on the Internet at the center of the debates of the Telecoms Package [...] It started with the declaration of commissioner Viviane Reding considering access to Internet as a fundamental right". The vote was 407 in support of internet access, and only 57 against. Although this was the final vote it will now go through a reconciliation process and Jérémie Zimmermann, co-founder of
La Quadrature.net, warns that
"Citizens must remain mobilized on these crucial questions" (thanks
